Hey there mateys, scallywags, and friends!

My name is Candace McHann (she/her),known in online spaces as TheAtomicPirateGirl, and I'm based out of Oklahoma City, OK. I'm a self-taught multi-media traditional artist, who dabbles in the digital. My work is illustrative in style, focusing on dark whimsical themes, contrasting light and dark that surrounds the world. Inspired by heavy metal, horror and fantasy stories, I weave these elements in with modern day cliches to create a point of view that pierces the veil of normalcy to see the world for what is, which is carefully balanced chaos.  Everyone has their own creative voice, and I share mine through different mediums and images, whatever the story needs so it can be told. There is a story to be I capture moments that make you ask “how did they get there? Where are they going?”

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Oklahoma, and in 2025 returned to pursue my second bachelors, a Bachelor of Fine Arts focused on Art Education to hone my skills and share my passion for learning and creating.

My works have been seen in Mycelium Gallery in Oklahoma City and Uncanny Art House's Stranger Show Virtual Exhibition.
